WilSkills is committed to making the outdoors accessible to anyone. That’s why we will never require students to bring special gear to skills in order to participate. Just come with your clothes, a good attitude, and a thirst for adventure!
WilSkills has a long history of welcoming new transfer students into the Vanderbilt community with a trip into the great outdoors. You will see and experience some of the most beautiful parts of the Southeast, bond with your fellow transfers, and make friends that will aid your transition to your new home.

Itinerary
Monday (8/13)
Early move-in day! WilSkills student instructors will welcome transfer students and help them move into their dorms.
Tuesday (8/14)
At 8:00 AM, we’ll meet at our storeroom and pack up the necessary supplies. From there we’ll leave for Slade, KY stopping at Mammoth Cave National Park for lunch and a hike. Once at the campsite, a campground at Miguel’s Pizza, we will set up, cook dinner, and play games for the rest of the night.
Wednesday (8/15)
After breakfast, we’ll head to Muir Valley for a hike through the nature reserve, and climb at a world-renowned climbing destination. For dinner, we will provide a free meal, but students’ may choose to eat at Miguel’s Pizza if they prefer.
Thursday (8/16)
After breakfast, one group will head to Roadside Crag immediately after breakfast, while the other group will go on a slightly less challenging hike than that of the previous days, through Natural Bridge State Park. After lunch, the two groups will switch. For dinner, we will provide a free meal, but students’ may choose to eat at Miguel’s Pizza if they prefer.
Friday (8/17)
After breakfast, we will pack up and drive to Indian Grave Point Cave outside of Smithville, TN. After eating lunch, we will cave for approximately 4 hours and then drive back to campus.
