2015年9月5日，2015届VUCSSA组织了一年一度的迎新生BBQ活动。这次活动的地点定于距离范德堡大学20分钟车程的Edwin Warner Park Shelter 5。一共有约90名新生报名参加了本次活动，多名老生也参加了本次活动，另外有10名志愿者参与了接送新生，布置现场等工作，在此感谢丁金龙、王逸舟、喻喆、李汶轩、王可、王世东、李若辰、陈庆磊、李成、娄健等志愿者们！
本次活动的主要目的是为新生们提供一个互相认识的机会。活动内容包括共进午餐、游戏环节、抽奖环节、体育活动以及合影留念等。活动举办非常成功！
午餐的BBQ由Edley’s BBQ提供，其他食物包括爆米花、薯片、西瓜、汽水等等。
全体参与的游戏为传统的击鼓传花，音响每次停止播放音乐后，持花者需上前自我介绍并表演一个节目，并获得文具用品小礼品。
抽奖环节抽出了两位获奖者，奖品为每位一台打印机。
接下来为分组游戏及体育活动，所有新生随机分组进行游戏或者体育活动，包括“贴人”、“抱团”、“Simon Says”、飞盘及“你喜欢你的邻居吗”。大家都玩得非常投入。接下来，大家围坐在桌边玩起桌游，增进了对彼此的了解。
最后活动在全体合影后圆满结束。

2012至2013年度VUCSSA系列讲座第五场将于12月1日（本周六）晚六点半在范德堡大学Black Cultural Center举行。本次讲座我们十分荣幸地邀请到了纳什维尔当地著名财务咨询集团（Financial Consulting Group）Budd, Melon & Company公司的合伙人、注册金融理财师（CFP）、专业理财顾问师（ChFC）Joseph G. Budd先生，为大家分析不同的投资习惯对理财的影响，并重点讲述市场不景气情况下的投资理财要点。本次讲座将提供一对一解答问题的时间。
本次讲座主要包括以下内容：

2012至2013年度VUCSSA系列讲座第四场将于9月15日（下周六）晚六点半在范德堡大学Black Cultural Center举行。本次讲座我们非常荣幸地邀请到了荣获2012年大纳什维尔地区最佳律师称号的R. Eddie Davidson (J.D.) 和华人律师Vivien Wang (J.D., M.B.A., M.S.) 等两位纳什维尔地区著名的执业庭审律师 (Trial Lawyer)，为大家介绍美国、特别是田纳西州的民事和刑事法庭及相关的法律，强调华人学生学者容易忽视的法律规定，并通过案例来分析华人如何运用法律维护自身的合法权益。
本次讲座将分为三个部分，具体内容如下：
1. 美国的司法系统是如何运作的。
——美国的双重司法体系：Federal vs. State
——田纳西州的司法体系
2. 华人易忽视的法律规定
——我会面临法律问题吗？
——哪些在中国合法的行为在美国不合法？

VUCSSA will hold a lecture from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm on next Saturday, September 15th, in Black Cultural Center at Vanderbilt University.
This time, it is an honor for us to invite two famous trial lawyers in Nashville to give us a speech about how American’s legal system work and what do foreigners should know about American’s law. One of the speakers is R. Eddie Davidson. He was selected as Nashville’s Best Lawyer on May 2012 and has been ranked as First Tier Ranking by US News and World Report in 2010. He has litigated or consulted in catastrophic injury cases in more than 25 states and appointed as the faculty member of Nashville School of Law. You can go to his website http://www.eddiedavidson.comto learn more about him. The other speaker is Vivien Wang. She is from China and has the only Chinese law firm in Tennessee. Based on her M.B.A. background and experiences in company operations and financial investment, her ideas about business law might be of particular interest to you. The lecture will include three parts:
1. How does American’s legal system work?
—Dual Sovereign System: Federal v. State
—Court system in Tennessee
2. Laws easily neglected by foreigners
—Am I going to face legal issues?
—Why is it NOT legal here when it’s legal in my country?
—Legal issues around me
3. How to use law for self-protection
—Am I protected by law here?
—Can I say “No” to police officers?
—What if I got sued?
—Do I need an attorney?
