May 2019

  • BCG consultant- Vandy Alumna visit

  • Informal chat with a BCG consultant, Dr Aparna Shekar, on May 9, 2:30-3:30 pm. She received her PHD in pharmacology in early 2019 and joined BCG shortly after.

  • This is a valuable opportunity to listen to her experience in applying, interviewing and accepting a consultant position at one of the top consulting companies worldwide. Everyone is encouraged to attend and please bring any questions you have about case practice, interviews, job duties, work-life balance and more.

  • Coffee/tea and light snacks will be catered by the VUADCC. This event will take place in Light Hall 415 A/B.

  • Tuesday, March 26, 4:00-6:00pm, Eskind Biomedical Library (EBL) 105.

  • In keeping with the BCG theme this month, we will be focusing on BCG style cases. These cases will be supplied by VUADCC.

  • Tuesday, March 19, 1:30-2:30pm, Light Hall 214 Co-sponsored by the BRET Office of Career Development and the Vanderbilt University Advanced Degree Consulting Club.

    The event will provide highlights to the Bridge to BCG Program as well as understanding a day in the life of a BCG Consultant and is strictly for advanced degree students and postdocs.

  • Wednesday, March 13. 4:00pm, Light Hall 214, Co-sponsored by the BRET Office of Career Development and the Vanderbilt University Advanced Degree Consulting Club.

  • Over 9 Vanderbilt graduate student alumni now work for Proactive Worldwide, including three of the panelists at this Employer Info Session. Come learn about this interesting management consulting company and what they may have to offer you!

  • ASPIRE to Connect: Building Professional Relationships

  • Friday, March 8, 8:00am-noon, Featheringill, Co-sponsored by the BRET Office of Career Development and the Graduate School

    This is THE event of the year to learn the skills needed to network, cultivate authentic professional relationships, and gain new tips and tricks for meeting new people. Informational interviews, LinkedIn, and networking etiquette all covered in this morning workshop.

February 2019

  • TechVenture Challenge 2019!

  • The TechVenture challenge is a 6-week business plan competition designed to accelerate the commercialization of Vanderbilt technologies that culminates in a pitch to industry experts and executives. Interdisciplinary student teams will be educated on commercialization strategies, facilitates networking between researchers and business professionals, and showcases emerging intellectual property from Vanderbilt University. TVC has a history of accelerating the commercialization of many successful startups.  For most information, please visit- https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/career-development/2019/01/04/join-the-techventure-challenge-interest-meeting-on-january-10th/

  • VIGH global health case competition 

  • The Global Health Case Competition is an opportunity for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from diverse disciplines and backgrounds to collaborate in developing innovative solutions to a global health problem. Topic reveal is on February 7, 2019. Teams will be divided into four ‘tracks’ on competition day- February 16, 2019. One winner will be selected from each track to compete in the final round. The top three winning teams will receive a prize. The overall Winning Team will represent Vanderbilt at the  2019 International Global Health Case Competition held at Emory University on March 16-17 (costs are covered by SAC).
