Teachers: Interested in Bringing VSVS into your Classroom for the Spring 2020 Semester?

VSVS lessons are designed to introduce and/or reinforce concepts learned in each grade level

Teams of 3-4 Vanderbilt students will come to your classroom and teach four different lessons during the same class period each semester

  • Your school must be within a 5 mile radius of Vanderbilt

  • You must be 3rd party compliant and have Protection of Minors forms signed and on file for the current school year

  • If you are interested in participating, you can sign up above!

  • Applications are not currently being accepted. The next cycle will open at the beginning of the Spring 2020 semester!

Rural Teachers:

  • VSVS and VINSE (Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering) offer a STEM outreach program to rural counties for grades 6-8.

  • VSVS has developed middle-school lessons in accordance with the Tennessee Academic Standards for Science which have been used in Davidson County since 1994.

  • Each hands-on science lesson includes background materials, a prepared presentation for teachers/students, all materials for the hands-on activity, and student worksheets that can be copied and modified.

  • Participating teachers in each grade will be able to select up to 3 lessons for the fall and up to 3 lessons for the spring to teach in their classrooms.

  • Teachers are required to attend a one-day training session at Vanderbilt in the fall to train on each of the lessons selected for their classroom.

  • Applying schools are evaluated on the basis of need and are chosen by VSVS and VINSE representatives at the beginning of each school year

  • We currently work with Bedford, Giles, Macon, Robertson, and Rutherford counties.

If you are interested in participating in this program, you can sign up below during the next application cycle.

If you choose to sign up, you will also need to register for training in the fall!
