Vanderbilt Student Government’s standing committees advocate for students, collaborate with university administrators, and lead initiatives that improve campus life. Every committee welcomes student involvement and works directly with campus partners to address issues affecting the undergraduate community.

- To manage the weekly VSG Newsletter and other outreach initiatives to the Student Body.
- To manage all social media accounts and websites connected to VSG.
- To create social media posts and video content highlighting and promoting VSG’s initiatives, partnerships, and events.
- To use VSG’s platforms to highlight campus news and events and the work of RSOs and University offices.
- To coordinate all VSG initiatives that fall within the Division of Administration departments of Business Services and Central Administration, including Campus Dining, Mail Services, Printing Services, Bookstore and Commodore Card Office.
- To collaborate with the Student Care Network and its affiliated organizations on VSG programming and initiatives.
- To voice student concerns and suggestions regarding any other on-campus or off-campus services.
- To act as the first line of report for student feedback, to direct students to resources on campus, and to enact tangible change.
- To advocate for affordable campus resources.
- To assist in advocating for diversity and multicultural issues to the University community.
- To assist in university efforts to promote campus unity and community building through developing campus activities that bring the undergraduate community together.
- To assist in efforts ensuring the views of the diverse student population and student groups are properly represented within VSG.
- To support student activism.
- To serve as VSG’s liaison to the Interfaith Council and Multicultural Leadership Council.
- To lead VSG’s efforts in voicing and raising awareness about the unique concerns of international students to the University.
- To actively reach out to and collaborate with ISSS, ISSS-AB, VISA, ISC, and any student organization whose mission includes supporting international students.
- To foster community building between domestic and international students and cultivate international student representation in the Vanderbilt community.
- To facilitate the Regalia Fund, which provides financial support for graduating students to purchase regalia for graduation.
- To support all initiatives related to Economic Inclusivity
- To organize and execute VSG’s annual Giving Tree event and other service events such as MLK Day of Service.
- To establish partnerships with service organizations in the Nashville area to promote their work and connect students with these organizations.
- To lead VSG efforts regarding ride-share and transportation off campus.
- To coordinate all VSG initiatives that fall within the Division of Administration departments of Public Safety and Mobility, including the Police Department, Emergency Management, Parking Services, & Vandy Ride and Transportation and Mobility, including the MoveVU program.
- To strengthen relationships and collaborate with the University’s Police Department and Campus Security Officers to enhance campus safety.
- To assist with all VSG activities regarding Vanderbilt University Athletics and the Student Athletics Advisory Board.
- To serve as the primary liaison between VSG, Vanderbilt University Athletics, the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center, and student athletes.
- To foster and expand school spirit through programming events and initiatives with university offices and partnering Registered Student Organizations.
- To plan bi-semesterly Vanderbilt Leadership Alliance dinners (VLA);
- To maintain communications with campus organizations for collaborations with VSG or other groups.
- To manage VSG visibility and campus engagement events.
- To facilitate relationships with university administrative offices and the student body.
- To oversee co-sponsorship and advocacy fund programs alongside the Treasurer.
- To lead VSG efforts regarding awareness and prevention of sexual assault and other forms of intimate partner violence.
- To collaborate with other student organizations whose mission includes sexual assault awareness and prevention.
- To assist with VSG activities involving the Project Safe Center.
- To advise institutional efforts regarding awareness and prevention of sexual assault and other forms of intimate partner violence.
- To serve as a student perspective in any policy revision work relating to sexual misconduct or intimate partner violence.
- To serve as VSG liaisons in all matters regarding Title IX, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence.
- To assist with all VSG activities regarding the University Registrar and Enrollment Management Systems (EMS), Course Evaluation System, and Course Management System (CMS).
- To maintain relationships with the academic deans, administrators, and faculty of all undergraduate colleges.
- To work with the undergraduate schools in communicating academic policies, procedures, and regulations to the undergraduate community.
- To assist with all VSG activities relating to Vanderbilt Study Abroad and Immersion Vanderbilt opportunities, activities, and development.
- To work with the Undergraduate Honor Council and appropriate University administrators in promoting academic integrity.
- To facilitate a process by which student concerns and grievances can be represented to the proper administrators, department heads, and faculty.
- To assist with VSG efforts in providing graduate school exam preparation and test facilitation on campus.
- To manage and organize all logistics associated with the Adriel Bineza Graduate and Professional School Equity Fund, including annual revision of the award and establishment of award criteria.
The VSG ad hoc Environmental Affairs Committee works to advance sustainability and environmental responsibility across Vanderbilt’s campus and community. The committee identifies environmental concerns, develops and advocates for practical sustainability initiatives, and collaborates with students, administrators, campus organizations, and other stakeholders to promote meaningful change.
