Vanderbilt Women in Business empowers future female leaders by engaging a network of advocates for businesswomen’s ambitions. Everything we do is about creating networking opportunities for our members. Through our programming, we hope that students meet and forge strong relationships with business people that can provide expert career guidance. Our programs are designed to ultimately create a community that recognizes the value women bring to the business world.
We accomplish our mission through three program tracks:
Speaker Series Event
Career Services Events
In the spring of 2015, six undergraduate women sought to disrupt Vanderbilt’s business community by founding Vanderbilt’s first women in business organization. In the past four years, Women in Business (WIB) has expanded to an executive team of seven, a leadership team of over 30, and a community of 400 students. We have developed three prominent branches of programming in line with our mission, including our speaker series, mentorship program, and career-oriented events. Our annual speaker series events feature keynote speakers, including Ellen Kullman, former CEO of Dupont, and Bridget Blaise-Shamai, VP of Loyalty at American Airlines. Additionally, WIB has established a semi-annual mentorship program, in which we match 35+ local business women across industries with 70+ students based on career interests. Finally, WIB has expanded our career services branch, as we now host information sessions with BCG, Google, BAML, KPMG, Goldman Sachs, and more. As WIB continues to grow, we look for avenues through which we can improve and expand our programming to best meet the needs of our community.
