Orion Sun
Orion Sun’s contemplative indie soul is the creation of smoky-voiced singer, songwriter, and producer Tiffany Majette. Combining elements of hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and indie rock, she made her full-length debut with Hold Space for Me in 2020. The soul-searching Getaway EP arrived in 2022.
Raised in New Jersey, Majette launched Orion Sun in her birthplace of Philadelphia with a series of genre-defying mixtapes, beginning with 2017’s A Collection of Fleeting Moments and Daydreams. She made the lineup of Jay-Z‘s Made in America Festival in 2018 and went on to open shows for artists including Noname and Ibeyi the following year, when NPR named Orion Sun a Slingshot Artist to Watch. She soon signed with Mom + Pop Music, which released her first album, Hold Space for Me, in March 2020. Two years later, she issued the inward-looking Getaway EP, which featured production by Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend, HAIM), Nascent (SZA, Brent Faiyaz), and Rodaidh McDonald.
