Spring 2018 proved to be another strong year of growth for our team.
We started off the season in March with a strong performance at the John Hunter Regatta. The Men’s Varsity 8 placed 1st in the petite final, the Men’s Varsity 4 placed 2nd in the petite final, and the Women’s Varsity 4 placed 3rd overall. The novice teams got their first taste of spring racing and also performed well.
Over the next month, we built on those results for another solid showing in April at SIRA, with the Women’s Varsity 4 placing 2nd and the Men’s Varsity 4 placing 5th.
In May, we hosted the ACRA Henley Regatta at our very own Percy Priest Lake. The regatta continues to grow, with this year’s race being the most competitive in it’s history. With ACRA on the horizon, our team faced up to the competition well, and two boats won first place in their events.
Finally, this year’s ACRA National Championships represented one of the best performances in team history, proving the depth and growth of our team. Our women became national champions in the Varsity 4 and our Men’s Varsity 8 finished in the top 20.
Spring 2018 was a step in the right direction for our team as we strive to increase our size and improve our depth. Our athletes are committed to our programs vision and their individual goals. With the hard work our athletes have put in this summer, we are very excited about the team’s potential this fall.
