Over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day long weekend Vanderbilt Rowing escaped the frigid Nashville winter for a few glorious days in the Florida sunshine. We got to step out of the erg room and get back in the boat for five practices on the water. It was an especially helpful weekend for our ten new novice rowers and coxswains who got to be in a boat for the first time! Having some water time in the middle of winter is so valuable in reminding all of us why we’re working so hard on the erg. Although Florida was a lot of hard work knocking the rust off of our rowing technique, it was also a great time for team bonding. On Sunday we squeezed both of our practices into the morning hours, and in the afternoon the whole team went to the beach for some fun in the Florida sun! There was frisbee, swimming, snacks, and a beautiful sunset. We can’t wait for Spring Break to get more 24/7 team bonding!
