NASHVILLE, TN \u2013 <\/strong>The annual music event that is Commodore Quake is back again featuring one of the hottest up and coming rappers.\u00a0 Students, alumni, and Nashvillians alike can get excited for musical act Flo Milli <\/strong>to take the stage, Thursday, October 6th\u00a0 at 8:00pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “We are incredibly excited to bring\u00a0 Flo Milli to Vanderbilt\u2019s campus. In addition, \u201cwe are ecstatic that we will have our second\u00a0 female headliner for Commodore Quake,\u201d said Music Group chair, Will Rotondo-McCord.<\/span><\/p>\n Flo Milli crafts flashy, irreverent bops\u2014but that doesn\u2019t mean she\u2019s not serious about her lyrical style. Born Tamia Monique Carter in Mobile, AL, in 2000, the MC wrote her first song at 9 years old, after seeing rap icon Nicki Minaj on an episode of BET\u2019s music video countdown show\u00a0106 & Park<\/i>. Flo Milli, who names the free-spirited Young Thug as another influence, officially began rapping at age 11, creating an all-girl hip-hop crew called Real & Beautiful. After disbanding the group and working to build a devoted social media following, she released the carefree \u201cBeef FloMix\u201d in 2018, an informal remix of Atlanta rappers Ethereal and Playboi Carti\u2019s off-kilter 2015 SoundCloud cut \u201cBeef.\u201d \u201cEverybody will try to act like rapping is easy\u2014it looks easy\u2014but it\u2019s a lot of obstacles that come with it,\u201d Flo Milli told Apple Music. \u201cSo when \u2018Beef\u2019 started blowing up, I kind of got a little more confident about my music, and that\u2019s when I knew I should just keep going.\u201d In 2020, she dropped her debut mixtape, the brash\u00a0Ho, why is you here ?<\/i>, led by the buoyant single \u201cIn The Party,\u201d an unapologetic flex about Flo Milli\u2019s ability to swipe the arm candy from anyone standing in her way.
